REPORT 2010-11 Participating Schools

Carol Lindsay

THANK YOU to all those schools who have participated in our Artist-in-Residence program during the 2010-12 year. With the help of 175 administrators, teachers, teacher’s aides, and 140 volunteers, approximately 5000 students benefited from the Artist-in-Residence program this year! Twenty three schools participated in a total of 34 weeks of residencies. Students experienced many different art disciplines:

  • Music (Cajun fiddle, African drumming, Native American flute and storytelling, multi-cultural folk music)
  • Dance (international folk, African)
  • Puppetry
  • Visual arts (watercolor, clay tile, drawing, cartooning)

Many residencies were also interdisciplinary and incorporated other subjects, such as math, geography, social studies, and history.

Along with our partnership with Eastern Oregon University, ArtsEast programs are supported by the National Endowment for the Arts, the Oregon Arts Commission, the Collins Foundation, and the Oregon Community Foundation.

Finally, a huge thank you to all the PTOs, PTAs, Booster Clubs, and School Districts who helped fund the residencies. We sincerely appreciate your commitment and dedication to providing art experiences for your students.
