Private Music Lessons

As part of our on-going partnership with Eastern Oregon University and the Community School for the Arts, ArtsEast manages and helps coordinate private music lessons taught by EOU Music Faculty and private instructors. Piano Violin – Intermediate and Advanced Violin – Introductory Drumming and Guitar

Jan Miller- PIANO

Background: Jan graduated from Western Oregon University with double major/certification in Elementary Education and Music Education, with a double emphasis in voice and piano. Besides teaching 3 years in public school, working in literacy in Africa for 2 years, and homeschooling 5 children, she has taught private lessons for 14 years. She belongs to the local chapter of Oregon Music Teachers Association which provides additional opportunities for her students.

Private instruction will include development of technique and repertoire. Theory and music studied will be determined jointly by student and teacher. Syllabus based on Oregon Music Teachers Association incremental learning system.

Fees: $20 per 1/2 hr. lessons, or $200 per term. Payment options available.

Ages: 10 – Adult.

Schedule: After school hours, Monday – Thursday, voice and piano and music theory, half hour lesson are typical, but longer lesson times are available by mutual agreement.

Lisa Robertson- Intermediate and Advanced Violin, Viola, Fiddle

Lisa Robertson

Background: Assistant Professor of Music at Eastern Oregon University since 1996. She teaches Applied Music (Violin, Viola, Chamber Music, Fiddle Ensemble).

Lisa Robertson, (B.M., M.A., University of Iowa, D.M., Florida State University) was a pupil of Allen Ohmes at the University of Iowa, Nicholas Chumachenco at the Zurich (Switzerland) Conservatory, Eliot Chapo at Florida State University, and has performed in master classes taught by Zino Francescatti and Christian Ferras. She was a member of European professional chamber ensembles and orchestras for nearly fifteen years.

Her teaching experience includes being on the violin faculties of the Peter-Cornelius-Konservatorium of Mainz, Germany, and the Academic Viennese Music Institute of Korea, and serving as Violin Fellow at Florida State University.

Lisa is the founder and music director of the Wallowa Lake Chamber Music Festival and Workshop which brings top musicians to eastern Oregon to perform and teach.

Fees: $32 per 1 hr lesson, or $24 per 45 minute lesson.

Ages: 10 – Adult.

Schedule: Lesson times are available by mutual agreement.

Tony Corig – Introductory Violin

Background: Owner of Direct Music Resource in La Grande, OR.

Fees: $20 per 1/2 hr. lesson.

Schedule: Lesson times are available by mutual agreement.

Luke McKern- African Drumming, Electric/Acoustic Guitar, Electric Bass

Background: Beginners welcome! Luke is a member of the EOU Music Department.

Fees: $20 per 1/2 hr. lesson.

Ages: 10 – Adult.

Schedule: Lesson times are available by mutual agreement.
