			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p><strong>ARTSEAST CALL FOR ARTISTS &#8212; <em>FEATS OF CLAY</em></strong></p>
<p>ArtsEast invites Eastern Oregon artists to submit work for its spring exhibit, <em>Feats of Clay.</em> The show will open March 9 and run through April 6.  An opening reception will be held on March 9 from 5 – 8 PM.</p>
<p>Up to three pieces may be submitted.  Final selections will be based upon originality, quality of work, and space availability.  Submitted work might include: vessels, jewelry, wall art, tiles, sculpture, etc.  Each piece should be priced for sale with ArtsEast retaining a 30% commission.</p>
<p>Artwork is to be delivered between 8 AM and 4 PM, March 6th and 7th, to the ArtsEast office in the Community School of the Arts Building, 6<sup>th</sup> Street and ‘L’ Avenue, across from the police station on the Eastern Oregon University campus.</p>

<p>ArtsEast will open an exhibit featuring the work of local  photojournalists on February 10 from 5 – 8 PM.  Light refreshments will  be served.</p>
<p>“Our theme is <a href="http://artseast.org/white-house-gallery/february-exhibit-land-and-people-images-from-regional-photojournalists/" target="_blank"><strong><em>Land and People: Images from Regional Photojournalists</em></strong></a>,”  says exhibit curator Mika Morton.  “We asked regional photographers to  submit work that reflects the people, life and landscape of Eastern  Oregon and we are delighted with the results.”</p>
<p>Featured photographers are Chris Baxter and Phil Bullock for <em>The Observer</em> and Kathy Orr and S. John Collins, for the <em>Baker City Herald.</em> Contributing photographers will include Dave Yerges and Jim Ward for <em>The Observer.</em></p>
<p>The exhibit will be on display through March 2nd. <em><br />

<p>The favorite subject of some of our most revered artists was  often…themselves.  Picasso, van Gogh, Kahlo, Rembrandt &#8211; all painted  multiple self-portraits.  As did Warhol, four-up on the same page of  course!</p>
<p>For their first exhibit of the year, ArtsEast has challenged regional  artists to explore and discover their personal identities and recreate  them through the medium of their choice and we couldn’t wait to see what  they come up with!</p>
<p>Participating artists, to date include: Kevin  Boylan, Peter Alan Bryan, James Dumble, Amelia Ettinger, Alexandra  Fuller, Jeanine Gekeler, Laura Hansen, Karen Kevan, Charles Koehler,   Gary Moses, Sue Orlaske, Linda Peterson, Mark Thompson, Brenna Tyler, and Linda  Schreiner.</p>
<p><strong><span style="color: #800080;">The opening reception for the exhibit will be January 13th from 5 – 8  PM.  It will also be available to Art Walkers on the 19th from 5 – 7  PM.</span></strong></p>
<p>The ArtsEast Gallery is located in the Community School of the Arts  Building, 6th Street and “L” Avenue, on the EOU campus.  Office hours  are Monday – Friday, 8 AM – 4 PM.</p>

<p>Groups taking the stage include the Grande Ronde Symphony Orchestra, EOU  Chamber Choir, Grande Ronde Community Chorus, EOU Women’s Choir, EOU  African Drumming Group, EOU Focalpoint, a festival Brass Ensemble,  Bellagio Handbell Ensemble, EOU Drum Line, an EOU Faculty Jazz Ensemble  and the Northeast Oregon Folklore Society English Country Dance  Orchestra.</p>
<p>All proceeds from the event go to the music funds held in the EOU  Foundation.  In addition, ArtsEast will hold a  silent auction in the Loso Hall lobby to benefit community arts programs  for children and adults.</p>

<p>A La Grande holiday tradition since 1991, the EOU Holiday Music Festival will be held on December 3 at 7:30 PM and December 4 at 3 PM this year. Featured are 11 different choirs and musical groups. Both performances are held in Mckenzie Theater, Loso Hall on the EOU Campus.</p>
<p><span style="color: #3366ff;"><em>ArtsEast will be in the lobby of McKenzie Theater during the Holiday performance selling refreshments and holding a silent auction. This is our annual fundraising event and the proceeds go to support our community music programs.</em></span></p>
<p>Tickets: $8 adults, $6 students &amp; seniors. Tickets are available at EOU Bookstore or Sunflower Books, and remaining will be sold at the  door.  Advance purchase is highly recommended as this show sells out. Don&#8217;t wait until the last minute to purchase them!</p>
